About the event

Transforming Cities
City Tech Department of Architecture hosts 3XN: Reimagining existing buildings to create resilient, future-ready cities.

About this Event

"Transforming Cities"

At 3XN/GXN, architecture is a tool for shaping human behavior, strengthening communities, and creating resilient urban environments. Through a research-driven design approach, the practice explores how buildings can respond intelligently to social, environmental, and cultural contexts—pushing the boundaries of aesthetics, performance, and sustainability.

A central focus of 3XN/GXN’s work is the transformation of existing buildings and urban spaces. By reimagining what is already there, the studio seeks to extend the life of the built environment while unlocking new spatial, social, and environmental potential. The lecture will present recent projects and research that demonstrate how thoughtful design can catalyze positive change at both the building and city scale.

He has extensive experience guiding complex projects across Europe and the United States, with a focus on large-scale, transformative architecture.

Jesper studied architecture at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles and at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. His work reflects 3XN’s commitment to research-based design, sustainability, and the creation of architecture that meaningfully engages people and cities.

Benjamin Magin is an Architect at 3XN NYC, having designed and managed projects across the United States and Canada. His experience is inclusive of cultural urban landmarks, higher-education centers, high rise residential towers, student housing and offices.

Benjamin graduated from Cornell University and is now an Adjunct Lecturer at City Tech teaching Design III architectural studio. Benjamin’s design philosophy is founded in the belief that architecture shapes behaviour, a core component of the 3XN ethos.
