Midnight Release Party: Shadow Ticket by Thomas Pynchon
Costume contest, Prohibition-era refreshments, trivia with prizes, and more!
Tickets $30 (book included)
Thomas Pynchon, the famously elusive National Book Award-winning author of Gravity's Rainbow, V, and The Crying of Lot 49 is back with a new novel, sure to be one of the season's literary events! Set in Depression-era Milwaukee, Shadow Ticket is the story of private eye Hicks McTaggart on the trail of a runaway heiress. By the time Hicks catches up with her, he will find himself also entangled with Nazis, Soviet agents, British counterspies, swing musicians, practitioners of the paranormal, outlaw motorcyclists, and the troubles that come with each of them, none of which he is qualified, forget about being paid, to deal with. Surrounded by history he has no grasp on and can’t see his way around in or out of, the only bright side for Hicks is it’s the dawn of the Big Band Era and as it happens he’s a pretty good dancer.
To celebrate the book's publication, Greenlight transforms into a 1932 speakeasy, offering music, party favors (while supplies last), and more! Dress up to enter our 1930s costume contest (optional), take photos at our black-and-white "photo booth", enjoy Prohibition-era cocktails and mocktails, and try your hand at Pynchon trivia!
Note that tickets are required for entry to this event; each ticket is good for one copy of Shadow Ticket, to be claimed only at midnight!
