"Where are all the aliens?" is a question scientists and enthusiasts alike often ponder. Equally intriguing is the idea that perhaps aliens are leaving us "on read." In this thought-provoking lecture, Dr. Mark Popinchalk reframes the Fermi Paradox to explore the origins of life and how we search for other planets.

We'll dive into methods of detecting extraterrestrial life and ask whether humanity's presence in the galaxy is significant enough to attract attention. By the end of this evening, we will seek to answer the burning question: "Are Aliens Ghosting Us?"

Dr. Mark Popinchalk is a postdoctoral researcher at the American Museum of Natural History in the BDNYC research group and serves as an adjunct professor at NYU. He specializes in estimating the age of stars based on their rotation rates, engaging the public as a planetarium presenter. An ultimate frisbee player and bread maker, Mark's favorite color is sky blue pink.
