How To Build A Fire: Desire Lines

There are maps and coordinates, patterns, and delineations. There are designated spaces, pathways, and landmarks. And we, creatures of desire, and ease, perhaps even more than habit, disrupt, erode, shift, and redefine these things all the time, in our walking, waking lives. Desire lines is a term that means a path created by people or animals that follows the shortest, most convenient route between two points, often by deviating from the plan or design; erosion made by a collective preference.
