August 16, 2025 Armed Women of America Jackson, Michigan Chapter Meeting Agenda
9:30 A.M. Sign-in on the patio at the clubhouse
- Hunter Safety will be doing their classroom portion inside the clubhouse during our meeting time, so we will need to be mindful and try not to interrupt or disrupt the class
- We have been asked to help serve lunch for the Hunter Safety students. We should only need to wrap hotdogs and set out food, but we may need to revisit this day of and determine what else needs to be done that the men have not covered π
10:00 A.M. Meeting starts
- Pledge of allegiance & announcements
- Move to Bay 17 for live fire training (we may need to split into smaller groups for this, depending on how many ladies are in attendance and/or what needs to be done in the kitchen)
o Range safety briefing
ο§ 4 rules of gun safety
β’ Assume all guns are always loaded
β’ Never point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy
β’ Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target (and you have made the decision to shoot)
β’ Be sure of your target and what is beyond i
ο§ Emergency Action Plan
β’ Medical bag location. Who has training?
β’ Who will call 911? What will you say?
β’ Who will direct EMS?
ο§ Cold range protocols
ο§ Review of range bag setup & gear recommendations
β’ Unloaded handgun (empty chamber, magazine removed for semi-auto, cylinder cleared for revolver) stored separately from ammo & magazines so you can access and load magazines without exposing the gun
o Do not handle firearms until directed to do so by the RSO
o All firearms must be verified clear by the RSO at the safe table prior to being removed from the case and holstered.
β’ Essential and recommended safety gear & gadgets
o Hearing protection (electronic preferred)
o Eye protection (ANSI Z87.1 or higher recommended)
β’ Magazines (or speed loaders for revolvers) (recommend enough for 20+ rounds prior to reloading) β stored separately from handgun
β’ Ammo (50 rounds or more)
β’ Holster (kydex recommended, ridged leather or better required to draw the loaded firearm from the holster on the line). If you do not have a holster or your holster is determined to be unsafe for a loaded draw, we will set up a table or barrel for staging.
ο§ Overview of course of fire
o Letβs go shooting!!!!! π
11:00 A.M. Move to kitchen to prep & serve lunch for Hunter Safety
