Art Byron Gatherings - Artist Dinner - Juanita McLauchlan

Join us for an intimate evening of art, conversation and connection at Byron Bay Lychee Farm, featuring celebrated artist Juanita McLauchlan in conversation with Daniel Browning—Bundjalung and Kullilli writer, journalist and ABC radio broadcaster.

Guided by her Indigenous heritage, Juanita McLauchlan works across printmaking and fibre-based practices to explore her spiritual connection to Country and her identity as an Aboriginal woman of English descent. Her work centres on the power of ancestral knowledge and the ways it sustains intergenerational ties across time.

“Using domestic fabrics such as vintage blankets as a base, she works with leaves, animal pelts and other organic materials to print, eco-dye and embroider, creating works that aren’t constrained to a flat wall mounting, but are suspended in space.”

The exhibition space will include selected works from Juanita’s recent solo exhibition, yilaa minyaminyabal maaru-ma-lda-y (soon everything will be healing), held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, as well as a major installation of necklaces titled guuma-li/gather, first presented at Artspace in Sydney earlier this year.

Enjoy a thoughtfully curated meal by talented in-house chef, Daniel Requiz, featuring organic, locally sourced ingredients that highlight the best of the season. Classically trained and with experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, Daniel’s food ethos centers on family and sharing, deeply rooted in his Latin American cultural heritage.The heart-warming meal will be accompanied by locally hand-made Jilly Wine Co.
