Do you want to learn a new style of music, challenge your coordination, and improve your ability to play in a group setting? Look no further! A Sound Education is offering the opportunity to learn the instruments and rhythms used in Latin music. Classes will be led by A Sound Education's very own percussion Instructor Wally Pochron. Classes will be held at A Sound Education upstairs in the large lesson room from 12:00 - 1:00 Monday June 23rd thru Thursday June 26th and will culminate in a performance at the Student Showcase at The Stadium Club Sunday June 29th. Anyone ages 12 and up are welcome to sign up. Don’t miss this cool opportunity! Cost is $145 and will be charged upon signup. As this has limited enrollment, the cost is non-refundable.
Wally has been to Cuba 3 times to study Afro-Cuban percussion with Cuban percussion masters Jose Eladio Amat and Alejandro Carvajal Guerra. He has also studied latin percussion and performed with percussionist, author, and clinician Don Skoog. Wally was also a member of Millikin University Latin jazz Project which has recorded multiple CDs and had notable performances at the Jazz Education Network conference in Atlanta Georgia and at the Havana International Jazz Festival in Havana Cuba. Wally has also worked as a clinician giving presentations on Cuban music to schools in the Chicagoland area.
