About the event

LAFF I Screenings: Me Quiero Ir and Vaychiletik
Held in conjunction with LAFF, don't miss our screening of the short film, Me Quiero Ir, followed by the feature documentary, Vaychiletik.

About this Event

Join the BDC on Saturday, July 12th, for a screening of the short film, Me Quiero Ir, followed by the feature documentary, Vaychiletik.

Me Quiero Ir is a poignant and deeply personal look at the untold side of migration—through the eyes of Venezuelan matriarchs left behind. While immigration stories often follow those who leave, this documentary reveals the emotional toll on those who stay, navigating love, loss, and an uncertain future.

Vaychiletik means “dreams” in the Mayan language of Tsotsil, and the film explores the traditional ceremonies and music of the Tsotsil people in Chiapas, Mexico. The meditative and beautiful film follows the director’s father, exploring and preserving the fierce yet beautiful reality of the Mayan people of Mexico.

Following both screenings, the directors will participate in an audience Q&A. (The second discussion will be conducted in Spanish.)
