Thanks to a generous grant from Citizens NYC, HRRP is excited to launch our very first Canoe Cleanup on Wednesday, June 12th, in celebration of City of Water Day.
The event will run from 9 AM to 1 PM, and the launch site will be announced soon.
We’ll be paddling into the mud flats and reeds of the Hutchinson River to collect garbage directly from the water. This is a boat-only cleanup, and we’ll be staying in the canoes the entire time.
Participants should bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray. We strongly recommend wearing long sleeves, pants, and shoes that can get wet—you will absolutely get wet on this trip.
