Cora Phillips Award

Exciting news! After much deliberation, our independent and distinguished judging panel have announced the winner of the first-ever Cora Phillips Award.

The honour is designed to recognise and celebrate the teams, organisations and groups who go the extra mile to support people in and around Bromley affected by dementia.

We received a great many wonderful entries from across the borough and the panel’s decision was made extremely difficult by the high standard of applications.

Now, though, a winner has been determined. And you can find out who prevailed by joining us at the award ceremony, which will take place during this year’s Dementia Action Week on May 22nd from 6pm until 8pm at the Bromley offices of solicitors Thackray Williams.

Among those present at this prestigious event will be the borough’s Mayor, our esteemed judges, the nominees and our Bromley Dementia Friendly Community partners.

The brand new award is named after local resident Cora Phillips, one of the four original founders of the Alzheimer’s Disease Society which later changed its name to Alzheimer’s Society. We are delighted that Cora’s daughter Margaret will be presenting the award!

Each of our judging panel are leaders in their specific dementia field and bring passion, experience and knowledge. We thank them all for their time, which has been freely given.

Our judges are (in alphabetical order):

• Angela Clayton-Turner - our Honorary President will be the non-voting Chair of the judging panel
• Jackie Swapp – Regional Manager -London, Alzheimer’s Society.
• Keith Oliver – 14 years living with dementia, author and steering group member of the 3 Nations Dementia Working Group
• Laura Cook - is the ageing well lead in the London dementia clinical network of NHS England
• Margaret Phillips - Cora Phillips daughter who is on the judging panel and also presenting the award to the winner!
• Professor Martin Green OBE - CEO of Care England and Dementia Champion for the Department of Health and Social Care
