BSO May Concert

The sizzling power of Shostakovich’s Fifth follows Ravel’s piquant Alborada del gracioso and Brahms’ passionate Double Concerto performed by brother and sister Lionel and Thelma Handy who last played it with us over thirty years ago!

Lionel was a member of BSO in the 1970s before going on to glowing professional career and Thelma has been the leader of Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchesta for many years. Both have the dubious honour of being cousins of Viola principal Dave Griffiths which is of course the thing they’re most proud of 😁
