Our wild clay journey continues! Itβs time to warm the pieces, build the fires, and see who survives the fire β Weβll start a primary fire to build a solid coal bed and then run as many rounds as needed to get everyoneβs pieces through (as long as the weather cooperates).

Plan:
β’ 12:00 PM β Arrivals, coffee, warming first pieces by the fire
β’ 12:30 PM β Firing cycles begin; weβll continue for a few hours
β’ Marshmallows + hot chocolate (which may or may not look like clay slurry) on standby βπ’
Caring for Your Pieces Until Firing Day
β’ Keep pieces on foam board (or other porous surface) to dry slowly.
β’ Wrap in plastic at first; if drying too slowly, loosen or remove the covering.
β’ Cover thinner areas so they dry more evenly with thicker sections.
β’ Bowls: once firm enough to support their own weight, consider drying upside down so rims donβt dry too fast.
β’ When leather-hard, refine edges and burnish/polish with a smooth stone.
β’ Morning of Oct 12: cheek test β if it still feels cool, put in the oven on the lowest setting for 1β2 hours. Being bone dry is critical to help prevent cracking.
What to Bring
β’ Camp chair (optional)
β’ Your bone dry clay creation
