Join Jim Day, People and Wildlife Ranger for the New Forest NPA, for a walk to explore the south of the Forest.
In 2025 we are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the New Forest National Park - this event is a perfect introduction to the New Forest, especially anyone, young or old, new to the area, who wants to learn about the role of a national park ranger while enjoying the stunning landscape, finding out about the history and management that has shaped it, discovering seasonal wildlife, and understanding how we can all do our bit to protect and keep the New Forest special.
The walk will take up to 2.5 hours, including time for stops and activities. It will mostly be along level gravel tracks but with muddy patches and some small hills to climb (and descend).
Attendees should bring a drink and any snacks they might want, and should wear warm and waterproof layers.
Suitable footwear such as waterproof walking shoes, boots, or wellies are essential. If wearing trainers please have a change of shoes and socks available for the end of the walk, just in case.
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
Parking is available in either the Wilverley Plain or Wilverley Inclosure car parks. A ranger will be waiting by the picnic benches close to the toilets.
