Many of you will know and love the epic bike photos captured at Fish Hill. But did you know that West Mercia Police are now targeting the photographers behind the lens?
3 photographers that use the hill have received threatening letters warning of fines, arrest, and even the destruction of their equipment. Why? Simply for doing what they love: taking pictures from the roadside. They're not breaking the law. They're not in the road. They’re not encouraging reckless riding. They’re doing nothing different than speed cameras—just capturing passion, not penalties.
One of the photographers being targetted is 18 year old Ben, he’s put his heart into building his photography business. This could destroy it. And for what? Because a few irresponsible riders choose to show off? That’s not on the photographers. Let’s not let them become scapegoats.
Jake, another photographer, has years of experience and only recently made photography his full-time profession—shooting street scenes, events, bike nights, and private sessions.
Now, Ben, Jake, and Ian—fellow bikers themselves—have been targeted by police through a parish council, influenced by a councillor spreading misinformation and alienating the entire biking community.
Let’s be clear: these photographers do not, and would never, encourage dangerous riding, breaking traffic laws, or hiding number plates. The accusations made against them are false and deeply unfair.
The latest claim? That these roadside photographers are somehow causing crashes by being “invisible” until the last second. That’s simply not true.
From Jakes personal note we need to work with police get them on the hill with us show them what we do make them see it’s not a speed exercise it’s what the camera lens can do, just because it looks fast doesn’t mean it is fast.
Jakes wish is that we can work together with the Evesham police force and make them aware that not everything the parish council say is fact there is alot of lies about photographers on the hill.
Bikers have always supported each other. Now it’s time to stand by the photographers who’ve supported us—rain or shine.
Share this event, Show your support. Show up on the 25th at any point in the day, enjoy the hill responsibly, ride within your limits and the law.... you may even get some nice photos ❤️
Just to re-iterate PLEASE ride sensibly, keep plates on view, no wheelies, speeding, showing off... this is NOT the time or place for it.
