Make Face cups, jugs and mugs with ” The Great Pottery Throw Down Finalist” Dave Short
Cups, mugs and jugs with comical or fierce human faces became popular in the medieval period. In this workshop you will use hand-building techniques to make a cup, mug or jug out of terracotta clay, then you will add clay to form facial features.
This may seem like a complicated undertaking, but don’t worry, Pottery Throw Down finalist, Dave Short, will be on hand to guide, support and encourage!
At the end of the session Dave will take your pot away to be glazed and fired. A few weeks later you will be able to pick up your work from Broadway Museum and Art Gallery.
This workshop is suitable for beginners. Accompanied children are welcome, younger ones may need adult support with some parts of the task.
All materials and tools are provided, but you may wish to wear old clothes or bring an apron.
Potters often talk about “praying to the kiln gods”! Firing pottery has a certain amount of risk. Cracks and other calamities are not common, but do crop up from time to time. This jeopardy is part of the pottery experience.
Classes delivered in our bright and airy workshop space at Broadway Museum.
