Make a gluggle jug with ” The Great Pottery Throwdown Finalist” Dave Short
Gluggle jugs are fish shaped vessels which became popular in the Victorian era.
Due to their unique design they make an amusing glug when water (or any drink) is poured out.
Last year saw a resurgence of interest when they featured as a main make on The Great Pottery Throw Down TV programme.
In this workshop you will make, decorate and personalise a gluggle jug using hand-building techniques.
Although this may seem a daunting challenge, don’t worry because Throw Down finalist, Dave Short, will be on hand to explain what to do and guide you through the process.
At the end of the session Dave will take your jug away to be glazed and fired. A few weeks later you will be able to pick up your work from Broadway Museum and Art Gallery.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those who have experience making things with clay. All materials and tools are provided, but you may wish to wear old clothes or bring an apron.
Potters often talk about “praying to the kiln gods”! Firing pottery has a certain amount of risk. Cracks and other calamities are not common, but do crop up from time to time. This jeopardy is part of the pottery experience.

We recommend you park in our nearby long-stay car parks, Shear House is the closest to us at 4 minutes walk and can be managed through Ringo.
