The Appalachian Men’s Ensemble will present a concert titled “Sail the High C’s” on May 15 and 16 in Gray, TN, and Bristol, VA. The program features a wide variety of songs about the ocean, including sea shanties, spirituals, and a Gilbert and Sullivan medley. Thursday’s concert begins at 7:30 pm at Gray Church, 2108 Oak Street in Gray, TN, and Friday’s concert begins at 7:30 pm at Central Presbyterian Church, 331 Euclid Avenue, in Bristol, VA. Donations will be accepted at the door, with suggested amounts of $10 for adults and $5 for students.
“Our singers have enjoyed preparing this music that captures the spirit of adventure and awe that the sea inspires,” said Artistic Director, Noah DeLong. “We are also proud to feature several pieces by local composers, including Don Brandon, Benjamin Dawson, and Evelyn Pursley-Kopitzke.”
