A practical course designed to equip learners with an overview knowledge and skills to be able to deal with an emergency, perform emergency 1st aid and resuscitate using CPR, know what to do if someone is choking, treat burns, wounds and use a bleed kit. This course doesn’t provide learners with the EFAW certificate necessary for some employers, but it covers very similar content. Learners will receive a certificate of attendance from CL.
Learning outcomes include:
Correctly list the contents and essentials of a first aid kit
Describe and demonstrate how to do cardiopulmonary
resuscitation and state 1+ reason for the safe use of a defibrillator
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries, including small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns, and scalds
Demonstrate correctly how to deal with an unconscious casualty, assess a choking casualty and be able to give emergency aid
Deal with a bleed, fracture, sprain and strain correctly and recognise the difference
This course is open to Adults aged 19 years plus who need First Aid Skills for volunteering.
