Magical meadows - discovery session

Experience our magical summer meadows that are jam-packed with a rich array of sensational wildflowers and grasses at this time of year. Take a wander through this delightful sea of swaying flowerheads as we look for a variety of indicator limestone grassland species that grow on Clifton Down.

We’ll hunt for salad burnet, yellow-wort, birds foot trefoil, betony, yellow composites amongst other flowering plants, as well as honing in on grass species such as quaking grass with a hand lens. How can we identify which grass is which? Perhaps we’ll be lucky enough to come across our stunning orchids!
