As part of Saffron's Emerging Artist Development project in Bristol, we are hosting three in-person workshops, offering music creators the opportunity to connect and learn alongside our 2025 programme participants.
Hosted by Saffron graduates and mentors, these sessions provide a space for women, trans and non-binary people to come together and expand practice, sharing in the support we offer, whilst thinking about your work within a wider musical ecosystem.
In a world where artistry is all too often approached as an individual pursuit, come along to cross-pollinate and contribute to each other's growth.
Join Grove as they break down a condensed version of their studio setup and talk through how they approach making a song for live performance. This will be an open and interactive session in which conversation and play are encouraged. Feel free to bring your own instruments and plug in.
If you would like to attend this workshop but cannot afford a ticket, please email us at aGVsbG8gfCBzYWZmcm9ubXVzaWMgISBjbyAhIHVr to request a bursary space.
Producer and vocalist Grove fuses dancehall, bass, and hip-hop into a bold new sound, driven by sensual liberation and political defiance. Inspired by the DIY ethos of punk, the catharsis of dance music, and the power of Jamaican soundsystem culture, Grove delivers food for thought on the dance floor, with energy to turn thought into action.
Since 2021, Grove has released Queer + Black, an exploration of personal and political identity, SPICE, and PWR // PL*Y which examines power-based relationships through radical and playful lenses. Tracks like BIG BOOTS offer a timely riposte to the monarchy, imperialism, and systemic racism, while MILF MAGNET celebrates the simple pleasures of appreciating beautiful older women.
Over the past two years, Grove has performed at festivals throughout Europe and supported artists like Bob Vylan, Peaches, BABii, and Moonchild Sanelly. Their sound has earned public acclaim from radio taste-makers Mary Anne Hobbs, Steve Lamacq, Jamz Supernova, and Jack Saunders.
Saffron is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to advance gender equality in the music tech sector by creating safer spaces for marginalised people to learn, create and grow confidently through forward-thinking technological music creation, DJ and music industry experience.
Saffron’s work focuses on educational courses, online workshops, mentoring, a global members club and an artist development and label platform. We are building a future industry that is inclusive and diverse. Founded in Bristol UK in 2015, Saffron has grown from a one-woman operation to an initiative supporting thousands of people worldwide to find music education and community.
