The "if I call it a podcast, will more people buy tickets?" Tour
Charlie Barnes is a long-suffering solo musician who is definitely not writing this artist* bio himself. He’s released four albums over the last 10 years to very modest acclaim, some of which were produced by Oceansize’s Steve Durose and/or released on a minor Sony imprint that no longer actually exists. His latest, ‘The Heart of the Home’, self-released in October 2024, is the best he’ll ever manage. It’s 45 minutes of floating, reflective, feelings-forward music for the elder millennial indie kid. He’s known mainly as having been part of Bastille’s live band for the last decade, most notably as the arranger behind their celebrated MTV Unplugged performance and live album a few years ago. He maintains, however, that his crowning achievement was getting a nod of approval from The Cure’s Robert Smith, who shared Charlie’s cover of their song ‘Alone’ on The Cure’s social media accounts.
*This feels like a bit of a stretch, really.

Non Canon is the indiefolk alter-ego of Bristol musician Barry Dolan. Starting as a tentative side project away from playing big noisy riffs as Oxygen Thief, this diversion from his usual writing habits made Dolan’s poetic lyrics increasingly precise and personal, with his intimate guitar playing embellished by strings, a horn section, piano, and electronic elements.
For fans of Idlewild/Roddy Woomble, Tim Kasher, Bright Eyes, and that bit at Manic Street Preachers gigs where James Dean Bradfield plays some acoustic songs on his own.
