And we're incredibly pleased to announce something absolutely new for October...
We’ve commissioned professional tango teachers, Letitia and Andrés Sosa, to run “privatandas” in the church hall (while everyone else dances in the church itself).
Privatandas are mini private lessons with either Letitia or Andres (depending on whether you’re a leader or follower). Each privatanda lasts 15min, incorporating 3 tango tracks.
At the end of each track, your teacher will give you a little helpful feedback. You then dance to the next track, hopefully incorporating what they’ve suggested, and so on.
Once your privatanda is over, you can rejoin the milonga and immediately put that advice into practise!
Why Privatandas?
In group lessons, we’re often given a demanding move or technique but (inevitably) we don't get much personal attention.
In private lessons, on the other hand, we dance with the teacher and get lots of personal feedback, but (a) it’s expensive and (b) an hour can feel too long or too intense.
Since it’s not considered polite to offer advice in the milonga (and few of us are proper teachers), how do you find out that your embrace is too tight, or that your step is too bouncy?
Hence the “privatanda”: A short, carefully focussed way of getting positive feedback.
Practical Details
Each privatanda will last 15mins (changeovers will be prompt!)
The privatandas will take place in the church hall (where you usually enter BUC).
The lesson content is up to your teacher. (Please, don’t arrive saying, “I want to improve my volcadas!” It doesn't work like that).
Each privatanda costs £15. (Normal cost is £20, but we’re subsidising this to support tango in Brighton).
All privatandas must be booked and paid for in advance - details to follow.
This is a fabulous opportunity to get vital feedback on your tango from a hugely experienced teacher and not to be missed!
Please, don’t hesitate to contact Mike or Jerry if you have any further questions. Either post them here or PM us directly.

Both are familiar with Brighton and have visited us before at Milonga Sábado, they also teach regularly with Carola at Brighton Tango.

Access to Brighton Unitarian Church is via the church hall, down the alley to the left of the Church building, next to Pinocchio's.
BUC is a fabulous venue; a charming Regency chapel, designed in the 1820's, slap bang in the middle of Brighton. It's light and airy with a lovely, smooth, wooden floor - perfect for dancing.
It's great for parking too, NCP "Brighton Theatre" on Church Street (BN1 1US) is only 50 yards from BUC, as well as all the other regular public transport links.

All takings from Milonga Sábado are ploughed back into what we aim to do: provide the best, most reasonably priced tango events we can.
