Hannah Palmer will be reading books for story time on the last Saturday of May at 11:00. AND her nonprofit, The Sunflower Project, will be gifting one book to each family in attendance. Please register below.
Hannah Palmer is a lifelong Brighton resident and passionate community activist. She wears many hats, including her roles as Miss Palmer—a third-grade teacher—and Miss Spirit of the State, a local title within the Miss America Scholarship Program. One of her most cherished roles, however, is founder of The Sunflower Project.
The Sunflower Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) books and resources to students across the state, while also helping offset the cost of psychiatric care. Hannah has traveled to schools and communities statewide, sharing her own mental health journey, emphasizing the importance of SEL, and encouraging open conversations about how we’re truly doing.
Through her efforts, Hannah and her team have distributed more than $7,500 in SEL tools to students and their families. Inspired by the way sunflowers turn toward each other for light, The Sunflower Project reminds us to turn to one another for support. With the help of financial assistance, community, and education, Hannah hopes we can all be the sunflower in someone’s life—and promote healing through connection and self-care.
