“a coolly expressive jazz singer with a refined technique … who cherishes lyrics and who listens closely to her playing partners.” John Fordham - The Guardian
Multi-award-winning jazz vocalist, lyricist and producer, Georgia Mancio, celebrates her 25th anniversary in music, with a series of concerts throughout the year, tonight featuring two highly acclaimed long-term collaborators: organist/pianist Pete Whittaker, and drummer Dave Ohm.
A supreme storyteller and formidable force on today’s scene, Georgia’s authentic performances connect deeply with her audiences and linger long in the mind. Her copious industry acknowledgements include consecutive wins at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards: Best Vocalist (2021) and Best Album (‘Finding Home’ with Kate Williams’ Four Plus Three, 2020), and several nominations at the Jazz FM, British Jazz and Urban Music Awards.
Her revered partnership with Grammy-winning pianist/composer, Alan Broadbent, has yielded over 40 co-written works (many published in their book, ’The Songs of Alan Broadbent and Georgia Mancio’); three globally acclaimed albums (‘Quiet Is The Star’, ‘Songbook’ and ‘A Story Left Untold’); and performances across Europe and the US, including Ronnie Scott’s and Jazz at Lincoln Center (NYC).
Other credits include: Liane Carroll, Ian Shaw, BBC Proms (2019), Pat Metheny (lyric approval), Bobby McFerrin and her own festivals ReVoice! and Hang. She also runs her own label, Roomspin Records, and Eltham and Crystal Palace Jazz Clubs with drummer Dave Ohm.
