Dave Rowntree is best known as the drummer with the renowned and innovative band Blur. Formed in 1989, they were first called Seymour then changing their name when signed to Food Records. Blur have had twenty-six UK top 40 singles and nine hit albums. The band's songs include Girls & Boys, Parklife, Coffee and TV, Song 2 and There's No Other Way. They were at the forefront of Britpop and known for their rivalry with Oasis. In 2023, after a hiatus, they sold out Wembley Stadium twice over. Published on September 9th, No One You Know documents the early days of Blur with photos by Dave and is edited by Miranda Sawyer. Copies will be sold at this event, which Dave will sign.
In the late nineties, he and Blur, especially with guitarist Alex James first became involved in the European Space Agency's Beagle 2 Mars project, with its promotion and writing a signature tune. He has also worked in computer graphics and animation. Dave's first solo album, Radio Songs, was released in 2023. As a composer, he is responsible for music featured on a wide range of TV documentaries, from Mo Farah: Race of His Life to Bros: After the Screaming Stops, and drama series', such as BBC One's The Capture and 2019's War of the Worlds.
