Christmas Decorative Lanterns - Brighton Workshop

Join us for a cosy and cheerful session where you’ll turn a plain lantern into something magical. This relaxed workshop is a wonderful way to ease into the festive season, meet others, and make a decoration that’s full of warmth and personality. You’ll enjoy a friendly atmosphere, plenty of creative guidance, and a little sparkle along the way.

First, we’ll start with the glass panels of your lantern. You’ll paint them by hand, choosing soft winter shades or bright Christmas colours. Then, as the paint catches the light, you’ll see your design start to glow beautifully. Your tutor will share easy painting tips and tricks, so even complete beginners can feel confident. You don’t need any experience — just curiosity, creativity, and a love of festive colour.

After painting, you’ll move on to the fun part — decorating! Using greenery, flowers, ribbons, berries, and more, you’ll learn how to layer and combine different textures and tones. Step by step, you’ll explore how to balance colour, shape, and sparkle to create your own unique style. Whether you prefer something rustic and natural, elegant and refined, or cheerful and whimsical, we’ll help you bring your idea to life. As you work, you’ll also pick up decorating techniques you can use for other Christmas projects at home.

By the end of the session, you’ll have a stunning festive lantern to take home and enjoy. It can sit proudly as a table centrepiece, glow softly on your mantelpiece, or become a heartfelt handmade gift for someone special. You’ll leave feeling relaxed, inspired, and ready for Christmas — with a creation you’ll be proud to display year after year.

All materials are included, as well as festive drinks and snacks to keep things merry and bright. In fact, we’ll take care of everything — you just bring your imagination and holiday spirit!

All workshops are beginner-friendly unless stated otherwise, and we provide all the materials you need. Adult sessions are for ages 16+, teen classes for ages 11–16, and family workshops for ages 7+ with an accompanying adult. Everything you create is yours to take home.
