A mysterious woman (Scarlett Johansson) cruises around a Scottish town in a white van, luring unsuspecting men into a black, goo-filled purgatory.
Truly unsettling, and with an excellent score and sound design, Glazer’s film drifts between eerie silence, awkward small talk and casual alien predation, slowly revealing itself as the ultimate folk horror parable: never trust a stranger who offers you a ride in rural Scotland. Even if it’s Scarlet Johansson. If the countryside being cursed by pagan weirdos wasn’t enough for us to worry about, it's full of malign aliens too.
