Andy McCluskey is a singer, songwriter, musician and record producer, best known as the lead singer and bass guitarist of the highly regarded Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, also known as OMD, seen as pioneers of electronic music. He is the sole constant member of the group, which he founded in the late seventies with keyboardist Paul Humphreys. This event will mark key anniversaries for Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark; 45 years since their self-titled debut album and their second, Organisation. They were both released in 1980, as were the group's first two top twenty singles, Messages and Enola Gay.
Other hit songs include Souvenir, Electricity, Joan of Arc, Locomotion, Talking Loud and Clear, Maid of Orleans (The Waltz of Joan of Arc), If You Leave, (Forever) Live and Die, Sailing on the Seven Seas and Pandora's Box. They have had fourteen top 30 albums in the UK and maintained a high level of popularity and acclaim around the world. In the late nineties, Andy formed the girl group Atomic Kitten, co-writing their early songs, such as Right Now and Whole Again. During his career, collaborators have included The Lightning Seeds, Gary Barlow and Karl Bartos, formerly of Kraftwerk.
