About this Workshop:
Labyrinths date back to ancient Egypt and Greece and patterns are found across the world. There are no tricks and false paths - the journey leads into the centre and back out. Walking the labyrinth can be a way of finding inner stillness and self encounter, walking it with others can be a tremendously uniting experience. It is a form of meditation.
Labyrinths were adopted by medieval cathedrals, most famously Chartres in France, but they can be found in many others as well. Julian’s Bower in North Lincolnshire is a turf labyrinth looking over the confluence between the Trent, Ouse and Humber and possibly dates back to monastic times.
The two hour labyrinth session will combine an introduction to the labyrinth itself and time to ask questions and walk it, beginning with some simple mindfulness exercises which can help with centring and settling oneself before walking.
You will be able to walk the labyrinth in your own time and bring your own understanding of it. The experience of walking the labyrinth is for anyone, it doesn’t belong to one religious or spiritual tradition.
This is a workshop for ages 18 upawards.
A bit about Harry:
Harry has many years of experience of working with peoples’ religious and spiritual needs in the NHS. He is trained in using the labyrinth and has experience and training in leading mindfulness sessions.
Whether you have encountered a labyrinth before or are new to it this can be a unique experience and is different for everyone who walks it. There will be the opportunity to talk about your walk during the session.
