Join Maine Master Naturalist volunteers Leigh Macmillen Hayes and Dawn Wood to explore the spring woods, vernal pools and wetlands. Free, but registration is required (find registration links here: lelt.org/wanders).
Have you ever seen a Fairy Shrimp? Or watched a dragonfly emerge? Are you curious about aquatic creatures and their adaptations? Do you love to learn? Can you tolerate a few hours of slo-mo as biting insects sing sweet nothings in your ears? If you have answered yes to ALL of these questions, then you should join us for wetland treks this spring. Come once or become a regular! The events are free, but registration is required as space is limited for both sessions.
When: Every other Wednesday until at least June
Where: Locations will be announced each week, as the conditions will determine where we go. All locations will be in the Lake Region.
What: We won't move quickly and we probably won't move far as we try to identify the critters who call these wetlands home for at least part of the year. Please leave pets at home.
To bring: Muckboots or sneakers that might get wet, mosquito netting or a hat, bug repellant, but not on hands or footwear, water, a snack, and a sense of wonder.
More information, including dates and links to register, can be found at lelt.org/wanders.
