No one knows exactly how old the original mill is but it was first mentioned in the 15th Century when it was known as Donynges (Dunning’s) Mill.
It was built on the land owned by the Pitchford family who were the largest landowners from around Bridgnorth and was owned by them until the 18th Century. Since then, the same family have owned it for the last 250 years.
All that remains of the original mill is the back wall and the watercourse. The current buildings date from 1854 when it seemed millers and their families began living on site.
In 2008, work began to try and uncover the ruin of the smaller mill where they found fragment stones, one larger mill stone and evidence of an older water wheel
With the passing of at least one previous miller on the site and the nature of the location, not only are industrial sites active but this one contains moving water which is known to increase paranormal activity, we should have a fantastic night inside the mill.
We then move outside to have a look at the Oldbury Viaduct, this will be done from below as the train line is still actively used by the Severn Valley Railway.
Built in the 19th Century there are several recorded deaths associated with the area from the construction of the viaduct.
With so much happening in such a small space and with the perfect natural environment this event will surely prove to be an active one! Due to the size of the location tickets will be limited so make sure you get yours!
