1 Day Drum Birthing Intensive - Bridgetown

Thank you for your interest in birthing your own frame drum within this 1 day workshop! If you've come this far, you must be feeling the call. Let's chat it over..

What is included in your investment?

You will be supplied with on the day (or prior by arrangement): your hoop, animal hide, tension cord + sinews, adhesives + basic drum beater components.

Please Note: There is a fabulous selection of drum hoop woods + sizes, as well as a range of animal hides available to suit your journeying needs. Please connect direct with Kelli should you need guidance or more information to be clear on your selection.Optional hoops sizes available are: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 + 20 inch diameter. Prices vary + available upon request.Optional hoop wood types are: Willow, Ash, Red Oak or Rosewood Trees. Prices vary + available upon request.Optional animal hides available are: natural red Kangaroo, natural grey Kangaroo, Aussie Goat + Fallow Deer. Prices vary + available upon request.

Drum hoops can take up to 8 weeks to order in. Please be mindful of this + finalise your custom requirements as soon as practical.

There is a small selection of wooden beads + odd bits + pieces you are most welcome to choose from. We also have access to a registered ethical feather supplier should you need something specific ordered in to complete your pieces.

A limited selection of acrylic paints, markers + a Pyrography set you have access to use to embellish your wooden pieces + can guide you through any medium, or you may have some crafting + painting bits yourself you'd like to bring just in case.

For your drum + beater you may like to bring:

• A stick thick enough not to break when beating, or similar for your beater handle (I have some dried branches + dowel lengths to select from also)

• A quote/prayer/symbols, crystals, rocks, beads, feathers, any personal items of deep meaning + sentiment you might like to dream weave into your medicine tools (some include a lot + some very little to nothing at all, there is not 'right or wrong')

• Optional colour embroidery cotton to embellish the back + each piece etc.

For the workshop + your comfort you will need to bring along:

• 2 x old towels

• Comfy nest of cushions, blanket, camp chair if you like etc. Any thing you'd like to set up a little sacred space to create.

• Water bottle, snacks etc.

• Shared plate for lunches

Why are we calling it a 'birthing?'

This process, like pregnancy + childbirth, is very much a labour of love! You may feel overwhelmed, anxious + all the feels. The conditioning to 'get it right' + the monkey mind overcomplicates the naural motion ingrained within your DNA, until you let go to the motions + rhythm, + just breathe into it. Your hands may swell or become tender. Your back is sure to feel it. Closest experience to the labourous birthing process to end up with something so completely unique + divinely created by YOU! Often people experience a type of rebirth or transcendent finding of one's Self or path.

Although this is considered sacred practice + ceremony in many cultures, this circle is open, mindful, respectful + inclusive to all peoples + their beliefs, keeping in touch with the essence, spirit + message of the Drum + Drum Lore for education purposes.
