Our next meeting will be Tuesday, September 2nd at 7pm and will be held at Floyds Lounge located in beautiful downtown Brenham at 351 S Baylor St. We have two great beers to taste at this meeting and, because it is that time of year, my favorite time of year, one is an Oktoberfest! The two beers are Texas Ale Project's Oktoberfest and Four Corners Local Buzz Golden Ale.
Texas Ale Project Oktoberfest is an Oktoberfest lager in the style of a marzen coming in at a nice 5.5% ABV and 31 IBUs. The origins of Oktoberfest can be traced back to October 12, 1810 in Munich, and in homage to this historical significance, this Märzen style Lager was crafted with 1810 lbs of malt and just the right amount of hops to achieve a perfectly balanced brew. The malt blend comprises Vienna, Munich, and a touch of Pilsen, ensuring a malt-forward experience with a subtle hint of hop bitterness.
Four Corners Local Buzz Ale is an American blonde ale coming in at 5.2% ABV and 20 IBUs. This Local Buzz Golden Ale starts with a pale malt base, a dash of Munich for body and a heapin’ helping of rye malt which gives a nice slightly bready, slightly spicy finish. As the boil comes to a slow, hundreds of pounds of Texas wildflower honey are then added. This ensures that the delicate aromatics of the honey are not cooked out and allows them to truly shine in the final product. This 5.2% front porch sipper has a refreshing taste and brings a lot more to the party than a generic blonde ale.
At this meeting we will be presenting our donations raised from the Hot Nights Cold Brews tasting event to the two charities we decided on - Four Paws Farms and Lifetime Learning.
