"The Ladder" is an award-winning, independent film from Writer-Director, Emilio Miguel Torres, that will make its WEST COAST PREMIERE at the 2025 West Sound Film Festival in Bremerton, WA.
THE STORY:
In the twilight of his life, an aging Alaskan fisherman contemplates restarting with the help of a mysterious scientific procedure. The movie explores the emotional and ethical weight of innovation and changing family dynamics as you age. Set and produced in Ketchikan, Alaska, the cast features authentic local actors and was written and directed by a 25 year-old filmmaker who grew up there.
THE JOURNEY SO FAR:
Following its world premiere at the Fargo Film Festival, "The Ladder" took home Jury Awards for Best First Feature and Best Editing at the OKCine Latino Film Festival, a Copper Wing Award at the Phoenix Film Festival, and won Best First Feature at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.
