[UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who bought tickets. I have refunded them completely. No one elected me, but I "resign" anyway as the leader of this effort. I have already spent too much time on it. Several people have other ideas for this event that are really good (Natalie Cash McCall, Bo Scott, Teresa Smith Sparks), and I encourage y'all to get together to plan it. I would definitely attend. Class of 2000: DEADLINE TO BY TICKETS - THURSDAY, APRIL 10!
Natalie Cash McCall and I have worked with Chateau Elan to come up with a great package for our 25 year reunion. For those of you have never been or heard of it, Chateau Elan is a luxury resort in Braselton, Georgia, features a winery, vineyards, an Inn, spa, golf course, and several top-notch restaurants.
Our reunion would be on Saturday, August 2 in the evening most likely from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Winery Pavilion. Dress code would be, "This is something to dress up for." Can you have a re-do prom 25 years later?? Wedding receptions are frequently held in this Pavilion--it is beautiful. All glass. It is right next to the vineyard and the Inn. The reunion would feature passed hors d'oeuvres, music, dancing, and a cash bar.
This event would be funded solely by ticket sales of people coming to the event. Tickets will be $150 a person.
This destination event is your opportunity not only to reconnect with your friends and classmates from 25 years ago, but also to make a weekend of it. If you were to try to book a room at Chateau Elan right now for August 2, the rate is $400 a night, and with taxes and fess, it would be more than $538--just to spend the night. But Chateau Elan's reunion package gives you a huge discount: $229 a night. We are also getting a discount on overnight parking and the resort fee. And that rate is good for the whole weekend--so you can make the reunion a part of a romantic weekend with your significant other, or a relaxing spa getaway, or a golf outing with your best friends from way-back when. So, while you don't have to stay at the Inn to attend the reunion, you will get the most bang for your buck if you do.
This event is budgeted for 100 people at this time. We need a head count and hard commitments to the event, and we need them NOW. Please notify us IMMEDIATELY if you are committing to attend, and pay us for your tickets--$150 each. Deadline will be THIS THURSDAY, APRIL 10, to buy tickets. [You do not have to book a room yet, but, when you do, you will be booking directly with the Inn.]

We have to sign the contract by Friday, April 11. If not enough people buy tickets, we will not be able to sign the contract, and we will either modify the event to accommodate a smaller group if possible or we will just have to cancel the plan to do it at Chateau Elan. If we cancel, etc., I will refund any and all money paid in tickets to my Venmo.
