Have Fun Protecting Public Lands at Shepherd of the Hills State Park

Are you looking for a fun activity to do with your kids? Have you ever wondered about the many tiny creatures living in our Ozark Streams? The White River Group of the Sierra Club is going to help collect and count aquatic macro invertebrates such as snails and crayfish at Shepherd of the Hills State Park on Saturday, May 10. This activity is for anyone, young or old. Participants who want to get in the creek should wear waders or water shoes. Other team members can help from the shoreline. After a lunch break (please bring a sack lunch), we will collect plants for the park's herbarium.

Shepherd of the Hills State Park is one of our newest state parks, purchased in 2016 and working towards opening to the public. Sierra Club members are playing a critical role in the park’s protection through activism and advocacy. This outing will give participants a sneak peek at this beautiful new park - plus we will be helping with important research.
