A Service of Word based on Galatians 5:1, 13-25
Many of us have already spent a few weekends working in our gardens, clearing out weeds, making sure the perennials are blooming, and setting out the furniture to enjoy the beauty of our labour. Paul himself was a bit of a gardener, but his garden was more spiritual, and his harvest were the fruits of the Spirit: “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Gal 5:22-23, NLT) What do these fruits have in common? How do they help us today?
Points to Ponder
How do the ‘works of the flesh’ (Gal 5:19-21) contribute to sin? How do the ‘fruits of the Spirit’ (Gal 5:22-23) contribute to grace?
How do we develop the fruits of the Spirit?
Why is practicing hospitality and welcome to the 2SLGBTQ+ community important for followers of Jesus?
Challenge
How can we show that 2SLGBTQ+ people are safe with us?
