A Service of Word based on Galatians 2:23-29
Paul’s letter to the Gentiles in Galatia, considered by many scholars to be one of his earlier letters, focuses on how faith, not adherence to the law, is central to our identity in Jesus Christ. Other Jewish missionaries who were sharing the Gospel with the Gentiles were focusing too much on the need for the Gentiles to convert to Judaism. Paul, instead, suggested we all “have been united in Christ in baptism” (Gal 3:27).
So, what would Paul have to say to modern churches about affirming members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community? Join us as we look at hospitality, welcome, and how we, as follower of Jesus, should interact with others.
Points to Ponder
What is your feeling about Pride month? How do your personal experiences inform this?
Why does Paul think faith is more important than the law when it comes to salvation?
What is the difference between hospitality and welcome?
Challenge
Reflect on how our welcome shows hospitality to the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
