Ever wonder if your toaster is secretly smarter than you? (Spoiler: It’s not… yet.)
Join us for a lighthearted yet informative introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) — what it is, what it isn’t, and what are the chances it will steal your job. We'll explore how AI is already part of your life (yes, even in your fridge) and what the future might hold — from friendly robot assistants to the occasional existential crisis. We'll do some fun live demos with text-based generative AI programs you might have heard of, such as ChatGPT and Claude, but we'll also touch on some serious issues related to AI, such as data privacy, copyright violation, and ethical concerns, just to name a few.
Program presented by one of our librarians on staff, Laurie Cavanaugh. Registration is not required, but please register through our event calendar at thayerpubliclibrary.libcal.com to receive an automated email reminder.
No technical knowledge needed! If you can ask Siri what the weather is, you’re qualified.
🧠👾 Come for the knowledge. Stay for the laughs. Leave smarter than your smart speaker.
