William Morris Inspired Fabric Block Printing (Tea Towel) Workshop

Design, carve and print your own William Morris pattern repeat and create a lovely tea towel!

Inspired by the rich designs of William Morris, this full day workshop will give you the chance to explore his work, draw inspiration to design, carve and print your own William Morris pattern repeat for fabric. This is a great workshop for anyone wanting to create their own fabrics for their home or explore the designs of William Morris.
What we will cover:
-A brief history of Block printing and it's uses in the Arts & Crafts movement
-Drawing and designing for block printing
-Looking at repeat structures and composition of pattern and how William Morris used these in his designs
-Learning how to transfer your design onto a block and how to carve your design into your lino block
-Printing techniques and tips for printing onto fabric, printing your final design onto fabric
-Using your hand printed fabric, you'll then learn how to turn this into a lampshade
Skill Level: Suitable for beginners.
