Join us for this Certified Lay Minister course on September 13, 9:00am-4:o0pm CDT at Christ Church GMC. In this course the student will explore ways to deepen their skills in active listening, visitation, assisting the pastor in crisis ministry, reviewing ethical issues, and setting healthy boundaries. Each one of these areas of content will be addressed during the in-person training through lecture, discussion, and active participation. Students must come ready to share personal experience of giving and receiving care, be willing to ask questions, and agree to participate in activities.
“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” Matthew 25:40.
Prior to the course students will read The Wounded Healer by Henri J.M. Nouwen.
After the course students will write a 5 page double spaced reflection paper that will include: How the book and in-person course has deepened their understanding of congregational care. Includes both positive and negative real life examples of when the skills taught in this course were either followed or disregarded, and the consequences that resulted. One new skill that the student will begin to incorporate into their ministry of congregational, as well as a plan for implementing it.
CLM Course Credits: The Certified Lay Minister status is a lay status given to the individuals that feel the calling to serve in the local church and beyond though not in a clergy status.
