Nature photography + editing workshop

This photography workshop is in two parts:

• Morning session - Practical outdoor photography
• Afternoon session - 3 hour photo editing workshop using Affinity 3

Choose to book onto the full day or just the afternoon photo editing session.

Morning session - Unlock your creativity and learn how to develop your skills shooting in manual mode in this practical outdoor session from 10am - 12pm at the beautiful River Stour. We will talk about the exposure triangle, composition and lighting alongside any specific techniques participants which to learn. Anna who will be leading the workshop will be present to answer questions and guide you in your learning process.

Afternoon session - We will then head to Trove in Winton for 1pm where you will learn how to use Affinity photo, a free professional grade editing software to edit your photos. We will go through the following:

• Strategies to import, organise & cull images
• Basic colour, exposure and contrast adjustments
• Cropping, straightening, noise reduction and sharpening
• Using key tools in Affinity and applying corrective and creative effects
• Q&A and hands-on practice with your own photos as well as fun photo editing challenges to test your skills!

There will be a 1 hour break between the morning and afternoon session to eat and travel to Trove in Winton. Bring a packed lunch to have at the River Stour and enjoy nature and photography chat or buy food at a food outlet in Winton. It is a 15 minute drive from the Stour River to Trove. You must arrange your own transport.

If you have only booked onto the photo editing session, please arrive at Trove at 1pm. We will have a short break within the 3 hours and you will have a chance to get a hot drink from the cafe (included).

What you need to bring:

-For the morning session:

• A camera, lenses, SD cards, batteries.
• Drink and snacks/Packed lunch
• Notebook and pen
• Weather appropriate clothing.

-For the afternoon session:

• A laptop and charger
• A card reader

• Any photos from the session before or from previous shoots you would like to edit.

*11-17 year olds are welcome but MUST be accompanied at all times by a responsible adults.

*ACCESSIBILITY - The workshop is accessed by a staircase. You must be able to walk up and down stairs to join this workshop.

About Anna Kenny:

Originally from Northern Ireland, Anna now works in Dorset as a conservationist, photographer and artist. Her business, One Planet Wonder aims to use imagery and creative means to encourage people to explore, value and protect the beautiful nature around them. She has a MSc in Biological Photography and Imaging and her work has been featured in a range of publications. She has been using Affinity photo for over 5 years to edit photographs.
