This month Tom Lund, Chief Officer at Citizens Advise will be talking about strategic development and building strong, meaningful partnerships across the community. Tom has a long-standing passion for supporting people who face disadvantage and helping them access opportunities to thrive.
Citizens Advice BCP provides free, confidential, and impartial advice to help people navigate a wide range of challenges, from housing and debt to benefits, employment, and immigration. The service has campaigned on supporting marginalised groups, championing the rights of older people, and challenging recent benefit reform proposals, particularly those involving cuts to Personal Independence Payment (PIP), to protect the rights and wellbeing of those most affected. Alongside its core advice services, Citizens Advice BCP delivers targeted support through collaborative projects with the wonderful Cherry Tree Nursery, Bournemouth Foodbank, Macmillan Cancer Support, and St Ann’s Hospital, helping to reach people in need or in crisis and provide holistic, community-based support.
Tom also volunteers as an Enterprise Adviser with the Careers and Enterprise Company, working with Christchurch Learning Centre, a specialist school for young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, to help shape inclusive and inspiring careers education.
He was closely involved in the first BCP Poverty Truth Commission and continues to be a Friend of the Commission as it enters its second phase, helping to ensure that the voices of people with lived experience are not only heard but influence real change.
Tom brings a passionate, people-first approach to his work and is committed to building a fairer, more inclusive community for all. He’s always happy to share (often enthusiastically!) the incredible work being done by the dedicated volunteers and staff at Citizens Advice BCP and is a strong believer in the power of collaboration to create lasting impact.”
