At Samhain the veil is thin and we gather to reflect and celebrate the energies of this time, listen to curated seasonal music, drink cacao, journey, and feel supported by the circle space.

The 31st October is the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, meaning end of summer and the return to darkness. It is the New Year’s Eve of the Celtic wheel of the year. At this time our ancestors had gathered in the last harvest, selected the animals they would hope to keep alive over winter, prepared meat and stored crops to keep them alive. They lit large bonfires to celebrate this time when the velvet curtain between the two worlds is thinnest. They would wear costumes to protect themselves and their children from any bad spirits that may come through the veil. They would lay a place at their table for those dearly departed ancestors that had gone before them and prepare a feast to enjoy with them. They carved turnip lanterns to protect them too. By 500 AD the Romans and Christianity had claimed Samhain and wanted it to be the time to celebrate the passing of the Saints and martyrs on 1 November. They called it Alholowmesse, so 31 October became known as Alholowmesse Eve, then All Hallows Evening and finally Halloween.

At Samhain and Día de los Muertos, the veil thins. This is the season of shadows and soul, when the old year dies and the ancestors draw near. Together, we will sit in ceremony with the spirit of cacao to honour what has been, release what no longer serves, and call in wisdom from beyond the veil.

This is a ceremony of deep listening — to our hearts, our lineage, and the quiet wisdom held in the darkness.

What to Expect:

• Intention-setting and heart-opening cacao ritual
• Guided meditation + shamanic journey to connect with your ancestors
• An altar of remembrance — bring photos or small offerings if you feel called
• Space for journaling, sharing, and stillness
• Sacred music and deep rest

You are invited to bring:

• A photo or object for the ancestor altar
• A journal and pen
• A blanket or shawl for comfort
• An open heart and a willingness to journey inward

This ceremony is open to all who wish to honour their roots, connect with their guides, and move gracefully through this seasonal threshold. Whether you are new to cacao or a seasoned ceremony-goer, you are warmly welcome.
