The Boulder Junction Public Library is sponsoring Memory Check Ups with the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Vilas County Dementia Care Specialist on Monday, May 19 from 10am to 12pm in the Boulder Junction Community Center. Dementia Care Specialist, Leah Baughman, will be conducting one-on-one brain checkups by appointment.
A brain check-up is a wellness tool that helps identify possible changes in memory and cognition. This tool creates a baseline of where you are right now, plus allows you to monitor future changes. Annual brain check-ups provide early detection and better treatments – just as blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, and stroke screenings do. Some types of dementia are reversible, like those from nutritional and vitamin deficiencies, depression, thyroid issues, and more.
Please call the ADRC at 715-479-3625 to reserve a brain check up appointment. There will be a limited number of openings, so walk-ins may have to wait.
Leah Baughman is the Dementia Care Specialist at the ADRC of Vilas County. She can help educate family members, provide support and connect caregivers to services, and problem-solve challenging situations. The mission of the Dementia Care Specialist Program is to support people living with dementia and their families and caregivers to ensure the highest quality of life possible while living at home.
