Opening for Safarani Sisters: Submerged In Time

Join us for the opening of a solo exhibition by the Safarani Sisters, Submerged In Time. Identical twins and interdisciplinary artists, the Safarani Sisters are most well-known for their unique productions that blend painting, performance art, and video.

The Safarani Sisters' new series of works reflect themes of celebrating memories. Balloons and string lights seen through a translucent surface convey a sense of mystery and speaks to the memories that exist in everyone’s life—those from our childhood or our unconscious. These memories may feel trapped or unclear, sometimes hidden behind a buffer we create to avoid remembering them clearly. Nostalgia can be mysterious, and has the potential to evoke pure happiness and also traumas we have been carrying. Through these works, the sisters aim to give nostalgia an ethereal, dreamlike quality and invite the audience to celebrate the power of memory.
