Hello, Palaverites!
It's been busy. Hopefully you have your invitations by now. We *had* a guest speaker locked in, but those plans were canceled at the very last minute, but we have a backup in place, so we are ready to go! (This saves you from me taking up your evening once again.)
Finding guest speakers is always a struggle.
The Palaver will be October 11-12, at Plum Canyon in Anza Borrego. In recent news, I delivered a fairly-well-received presentation on Dr Jaeger and the Palaver at the summer Desert Committee meeting in the White Mountains. People got to ring the cowbell and look through the apple box, and much appreciation and nostalgia for Professor Jaeger was expressed. There were some interesting suggestions tabled there, which, I am excited to mention at cowbell. Following from that, I am in the process of drafting an article on Dr Jaeger and the Palaver for the Desert Report.
And if you know a good documentary film maker, we should talk. Marty Dickes, recently retired from the BLM expressed that Edmund Jaeger was such an interesting character that someone should make an American Experience-style documentary while these stories of the Palaver and Dr Jaeger are still alive in our memories.
