Education, Annual Meeting and Fellowship
Join us for all or part of this festival weekend. We will have three featured activities — Angela Lawrence will be our teacher and lecturer. IQG annual meeting. Sit & Sew Retreat.
On Friday Angela Lawrence will be teaching “Creative Circles” a workshop focused on learning numerous creative embroidery stitches to decorate a layered wool circle. The class fee includes a kit with wool fabric for background and appliqué circles, Angela’s favorite fusible and a handout. Angela suggests that you have Sue Spargo’s Creative Stitching book. If you do not want to purchase one until you know that you love this style of embroidery, we will be sharing it with our table mates. So, if you have this book, please bring it. Students will also need to bring needles, pearls cotton scissors. The complete supply list will be sent after you register.
We will have a Sit & Sew Retreat room for the weekend. Friday, it will be open for members who are not taking the workshop and then after the workshop for those attendees. Saturday afternoon and Sunday we will open the meeting space to one large room and have Sit & Sew for members. Saturday afternoon and evening it will be free for members attending the annual meeting. Sunday it will be open to members registering.
Saturday morning Angela will be our featured speaker with a trunk show and lecture at 9 am.
After the lecture we will have coffee, treats and fellowship time to visit with Angela and other members. At 10:30, we will have the Iowa Quilters Guild annual meeting including board reports and election of officers.
We have a block of rooms set aside at Cobblestone Inn & Suites in Boone, 515-212-8823, for Thursday, Friday and /or Saturday. Call directly to make a reservation. Be sure to tell them if you need a room on the first floor.
IQG member registration is now open. Registration will open to the public on June 1st.
