Want to learn more about the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) that runs through the High Country and passes right by Boone as it crosses North Carolina? Or about Friends of the MST, the nonprofit group that supports the trail?
The MST stretches 1,175 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks, passing many of our state’s most beautiful places and connecting dozens of communities along the way.
Friends of the MST is the growing community of members and volunteers who support the trail and work statewide building and maintaining trail, encouraging communities to create new sections of trail, and helping people hike it.
Join us at the public library in Boone (140 Queen Street, Boone, NC 28607) to hear the latest status on the MST in the mountains after Helene, learn about the history of the MST, how to hike it, current projects underway to improve the trail, how you can get involved with local trail efforts and more. We'll also hear from Randy Johnson, author of numerous hiking books, longtime trail volunteer and Friends of the MST board member.
Event is free and open to the public. We’ll also have a door prize drawing for our guidebook Great Day Hikes on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.
Registration is not required, but helpful for planning purposes.
