About the event

Trauma Informed Creative Practice Training- Teachers/TA's
In-depth workshop for KS3/4, PRU, & Alternative Provision (AP) teachers/assistants into trauma-informed practice with young people

About this Event

This training is offered fully subsidised by Bolton Cultural Education Partnership (CEP) for professionals working in schools in Bolton.

This 3 hour in-depth workshop offers Secondary, PRU, and Alternative Provision (AP) teachers insight into how to work in a trauma-informed way when working with young people.

Working in Secondary, PRU, or Alternative Provision means supporting students who often carry complex emotional and psychological burdens. Understanding the impact of trauma is no longer optional- it is a foundational skill for creating a safe and effective learning environment.

This crucial professional development workshop, led by Senior Lecturer and Art Psychotherapist Sarah Harrison-Greaves, is designed specifically for you. It will equip you an understanding of trauma responses, trauma-informed approaches to support student wellbeing, and protect your own professional health.

What You Will Explore:

• Identification: Learn how trauma may present itself in the classroom setting and impact a young person’s engagement and behaviour.

• Response: Explore appropriate, safe, and proactive ways of responding to trauma responses, helping you de-escalate situations and support students effectively.

• Theory & Practice: Theory & Practice: Dive into foundational concepts of trauma, how it effects the mind and body, the neuroscience, nervous system responses and the impact on attachments. Understand the importance of professional boundaries, vicarious trauma and burn out.

• Creative Tools: Gain practical ideas for integrating regulating art activities using visual arts and mixed media that can be used as quick, calming interventions in the classroom.
